3 v 3 tourney

Today was the annual Geneva Arms 3 v 3 tourney. I got a team together for it and it was awesome! There was only one other girls team that signed up so we played 3 games against them. We had two 10 min halfs, they won the first game, we won the second and they won the last. So they ended up winning and getting the Champs t-shirt but we had so much fun it was ok! :) here are some pictures of us during the tourney.

My team....Me, Marti, JoAnna, Janelle
Our team name: Oldies But Goodies!

Alexanders on the square

Tonight I am craving some ice cream from this little ice cream parlor in downtown Noblesville called Alexanders. What a great little place it is! I have good memories there from a kid and right now I just want to go with family and enjoy delicious ice cream. Maybe next time I am visiting Noblesville I will stop by there. :)

fun weekend!

Over the weekend my  mom and brother drove out to visit us. It was a short visit but we had so much fun! We went to the park and Grandma and Toby got to play on the slides, Toby LOVES slides! While Toby was napping the 3 of us went to watch the softball game. Go Geneva softball! They won. Toby also got a cool pair of shades that he loves wearing outside now. However once we get where we are going and he starts playing they come right off! Thanks mom and Josh for the visit! We had fun!

Toby and Grandma on our way to the park.

Toby and uncle Josh sticking their tongues out while giving the "dude" sign!

Toby and me switched sunglasses! We are so cool!

Toby just looks mean when he is up to bat! He has been practicing his swing and is getting pretty good if I do say so myself!

Toby going down his favorite slide at the park.

He made it to the bottom with static in his hair to make it even more crazy!

Another year older

I am another year older. (Which also makes my parents older! ) :) It is very weird to sit back and think of my last birthday and where we were and the friends we celebrated with and to see how in just a short year all that has changed!
On to my birthday........it was so wonderful. It was filled with great times with Brian, Toby and our sweet friends! Brian and Toby hand made cards for me and woke me up in the morning with them. After church we went to lunch with some friends and then went on a walk with the other Jensen's. Toby was so happy (probably cause it was my birthday) he was screaming and yelping and laughing and making the sound puppies make. Yes you heard me right he can finally tell you what sound a puppy makes! Then while Toby was napping JoAnna and I went on a long walk and just talked and enjoyed the beautiful weather we had! It was much needed! Then after dinner Travis, another RD here, made me a delicious homemade ice cream cake! It was so wonderful. We ate that with our friends and thanks to Taylor watched the final show of 'newlyweds'. :) It was such a great birthday!
Then Monday night my Bible study girls came in our apartment singing happy birthday with a cake and candles! It was such a surprise! They are so great!
Thanks to everyone who helped make it rock!

Me and my awesome family!

Me and the amazing ice cream cake!

What a day

So you know how sometimes you have those days where things just seem worse than they really are or you have so much on your mind that you can't figure out what you should really do with yourself? When your 1 1/2 year old throws more and more tantrums everyday and you wonder how you will survive the next year let alone thinking about adding another child?! Or the free meals you are eating in the school cafeteria just aren't very good and your 1 1/2 year old won't eat anything healthy so you feel like a bad mom by what he is eating for dinner? Well I had one of those days today.
The morning didn't start out right, which is never a good thing.  Brian has lots to do right now and isn't feeling good so I had to skip my Bible study that I normally go to on Tuesday nights. I guess I hadn't realize how great that two hours away from home really was!! Toby and I went to Wal-Mart and I started feeling tired. Tired of hearing "momma, momma, momma " over and over and over again without really anything else following those words. Tired and just wanting time to myself. Tired and wanting figure out and fix all the things on my mind. Tired and wanting to curl up on my couch and watch a good movie.
So we made it home after an hour and I had to unload the bags from the car with Toby in one arm, bags in the other. Trying to open all the doors in my way. Realizing the time, had to get Toby straight to the bath and get him ready for bed.  After we did all the important cleaning it was time to play. Toby all of a sudden farted and thought it was the funniest thing in the world! He somehow managed to squeeze 3 more out while laughing his little belly laugh! Laughter is good medicine! At that moment I didn't care how tired and drained I was or what was on my mind. I was just thinking of how precious he is, how much I love him and what a blessing he is to us!  It was the perfect ending to my day!

little licker

Today for lunch Brian, Toby, Josh and I went to Chick-fil-A. Everyone was having a great time when all of a sudden Toby started licking the plastic wrap from his toy in his kids meal. We all laughed and wondered where that came from but took the plastic away from him. (you know plastic is not a toy for kids! Safety first!) So we continued eating and talking when Toby started licking the paper bag from his kids meal. Now this is getting crazy! Where was this coming from?! So I figured someone had to be licking something that he could see, so I looked to where he was looking. Sure enough there was a little girl licking her ice cream cone! He was imitating her! It was so great! Now we are going to have to get him a cone of his own to show him when it's ok to lick! :)

First Haircut!

So on Sunday night (March 16th) Toby had his very first haircut ever! We captured a few pictures of it. Here they are!

His before picture. His hair really is long!!

Some pictures of Zac (a student in our building) cutting the front. Toby stood on my lap at first but that didn't last long! He hated when the hair fell in his face!
We had to come up with something to occupy him while the job was getting done. So he was throwing a bouncy ball to me.  Not staying still for too long for Zac to make each cut!
Just a good shot of the head and scissors.
We ended up with him standing on the sink throwing his bouncy ball in and laughing. Again not standing still for Zac!

And the final hair style! Pacifier in mouth to make him calm and not freak out (it was bedtime) so we could take the picture and ball in hand because, well he just loves them!

Zac did an awesome job especially with Toby moving around and sometimes trying to push away the scissors!! Toby now looks older with his new do and it has apparently inspired him to start saying more words!!

Hurry up spring!

We are ready for spring! We have had a couple really nice spring days (today is starting to feel like one) and then we have a few cold days! I just want to wear short sleeves, flip flops, and look like I have a tan! So I guess I want summer........but to get to summer I need spring! Toby loves walking outside, throwing his football, and golfing outside so warm weather is ideal for those activities. Oh and today is the first home baseball game and you better believe when Toby wakes up from his nap that is where we are headed! Until next time........

Falling alseep

Toby was so tired on the first day we got back home that he fell asleep while eating his grilled cheese sandwich. He was so exhausted! We woke up at noon (I know when was the last time we slept in that long?!?) so we didn't give him a nap so that he would go to bed that night. It was just a little to long for him though. ha ha! He went to bed at 7:15 (which was shortly after this picture was taken) and then woke up wide awake at 9:30!! Brian played with him in the guys room across the hall until midnight and then put him to bed again! Poor guy was pretty messed up!! But I have always wanted a picture like this and finally we got one! :) He is such a cutie!

ALASKA!!

What can I say about Alaska, except that it was so beautiful! Toby did so good on all the plane rides that we had and did great with all the newness he encountered!! Here are a few pictures from our trip!

Toby got his own seat on one of the flights and he felt so big! He look pretty cute too!
This is my favorite picture! Toby with mountains behind him! Could it get any better?! :)

Brian and myself and a few of the students went on a hike up the mountain. This is us with a little bit of the awesome view we had behind us. It was totally amazing! And there were lots of Moose droppings as we went up the mountain! :)
This was right before we got on the plane to leave. Anchorage is behind us. It was a great picture spot!

This was when we went to the Iditarod. Toby loved seeing all the dogs but was so bundled he couldn't move much!  ha ha!

We are glad to be back home and adjusting back to the time was alot harder coming back then going to Alaska but we are finally back to normal!

How cute is he?!

Yesterday Toby didn't see Brian very much and as soon as he walked in the door he was so happy and kept saying "DA DA DA". Brian had to run up to a room upstairs quick though and so while he was gone Toby put his vest on! He thought he was pretty cool! :)

The other day he also did something very funny! We were in the cafeteria and he was drinking out of a big glass and it totally spilt all over his pants! So we took off his pants and he was running around with no pants off. He was also standing on the table smiling at everyone! He was the hit of dinner that night!

Uh-Oh!

This morning after meeting for breakfast with the students that are going to go to Alaska with us, Toby and I came home and played! After shooting some hoops Toby decided he wanted to get something out of his little red wagon that hold his mega blocks. Well he was backing up and tripped over another toy which made him go face first into the side of the wagon and then proceed to fall backwards. Of course he was crying and I asked him where it hurt. He pointed to his face but I saw nothing. I was telling him it probably scared him and he'd be alright. Then I looked at him again and a big blob of drool was oozing out of his mouth and with it was blood. BLOOD!! I panicked! So I tried to wipe it up and look in his mouth. I held a wet paper towel in his mouth to try to get some of the blood then called my parents to find out what else to do. It stopped bleeding and turned into a fat lip and now after his afternoon nap it is like it never even happened!

"Apple"

So today Toby said Apple! It was the greatest thing ever! Of course we couldn't get him to say it again, but he just said it! No one asked him to say it, no one was telling him that he was holding an apple. JoAnna just said something like "What are you going to do with my apple, Toby?" and his response was just "apple"! Maybe this is the start of something........

Welcome back!

So I took a break from blogging. I have been inspired recently to start it up again, thank you to the Spragues! :) I hope to keep you updated on things more often again!

We are now used to our life here at Geneva and enjoying it! We have gotten so many wonderful friends that we have surrounded ourselves with! Toby is again very well known on this campus just like he was at NCU! I supposed that will never change! Toby has been very good about taking 3 hour naps now each day! I love it. I can get so much done during that time.....well reading, sleeping, cleaning and then I get to watch my show that I am addicted too!! So I guess I could get more done if I didn't feel the need to always watch my show!

I meet regularly with 3 other ladies and we are reading a book about dangerous surrender by Kay Warren. They are so great and I am learning things from them all the time! They all bring something so unique and great to the group. I totally love our time together! And it has totally got me thinking about my life and what I am doing with it. I am trying to put things I am learning into practice and really trying to figure out what exactly I am supposed to be doing here. That is a daily thought in my head now and I haven't got the answers! I just keep living day to day doing what is in my schedule and not doing anything to change that. Sometimes I want to do something drastic and dive head first into doing something so that normally I would be to scared to do. I am working on that! :)

Not much happening.....

Our most recent family photo. If only Toby would smile when we want him to!

Thanks to Grandma and Grandpa A he is ready for the Colts first game of the season!

I realized I hadn't taken many pictures of Toby since we moved to PA so I fixed that problem! Here is Toby just being himself!

Our trip to Indy

We loved our time in Indy! We were there for Uncle Josh's high school graduation and the Indy 500! Toby was excited for the 500! Even though he didn't go to it he felt the excitement of it all! He stayed awake until 10:30 one night! Yes he is a party animal! He was just laughing and walking around playing with cousins (2nd cousins) and mom and dad and we looked at the clock and it was WAY past his bed time.
He got to see Grandma and Grandpa Arnold, Uncle Josh, Uncle Chad and Aunt Alicyn and Great aunt and uncle Denise and Brian. Toby did so great on the plane rides and adjusting to a different schedule. He also loved seeing everyone again! He truely is a Hoosier at heart! :)

update

So I realize it's been a while since I've posted on here. So just an update on Toby, he is walking now. He has been able to walk with help from someone or walls or couches but now he is getting brave. He is letting go and walking without holding on to something! It's so crazy! He is 10 months now and has 4 teeth on the top and 2 on the bottom. He is getting so big on me! He loves to go on walks outside. I will post some pictures from our recent trip to Indianapolis! :)
